Manic Monday! We got a phone call saying the wedding contract would be e-mailed BY Friday. WAHOO! Last night we had a truly Thai experience..actually, lately we've been having those. But last night was special. We went with a group of friends to see Harry Potter-gold class. Dave and I have been hearing about this gold class phenomenon but we have always opted for the cheap tickets not knowing what the gold class dealio was. Well, let me tell you...we'll never go back to cheapy tickets. The gold class is a separate theatre with about a 1/3 of the seats in a regular theater. The seats are HUGE and recline all the way back..inclduing the foot rest. Oh my gosh! That's a new "thing to do" if you come to Thailand! Seriously! You order your food and drinks (full bar if you want) and then they serve them to you in the theatre! It was soo relaxing. We all looked ready for bed after the end of the movie.

Our other Thai experience was in a cab last week. The drivers are known for taking you for a ride. It's not the money that gets you b/c the cabs are so cheap here, it's the time they waste. That's what gets me. I get frusterated when they take my time away from me so they can make a quick baht! So this guy was obviously taking us out of the way. We needed to go West and he drove us way north, then way south and then west. Yeah..needless to say, we didn't pay the full fare. Jerk! But we also learned that it's okay to just get out of the cab once you realize they're jacking you and not pay..sweet. At which point you have to take your chances with another driver. I prefer the public transportation at this point. ha!

I bought a sweater yesterday. That's right. The weather has cooled down to the 70's and it feels cool enough that I need a sweater. Isn't that nuts??

My great grandma is very slowly recovering from a broken hip and in pain..please send her warm thoughts (she's in Illinois). :-)

What a week! I'm back in the swing of teaching again. I love it!

It's supposedly the dry season now but it's been raining everyday. I never could have anticipated NOT liking the rain. I love heavy downpours! But here, I have to walk outside and ride my bike to and from work, which is NOT possible in a downpour. It's just not. My glasses get super fogged and wet and I can't see a thing and the streets on campus turn into rivers. Also, the weather has cooled down a bit so the rain makes you cold as well as wet. Just last weekend Dave and I went sightseeing and the minute we got off the bus it started to rain heavily. So we thought we'd wait it out under the bus stop....An hour later we were still waiting and the street flooded so every car driving by the bus stop was drenching us! haha. It's funny now but that was one wet day!

I haven't written in a while..oops. I'm playing my horn a lot these days. It feels sooo good to be back into a routine. It was difficult finding the time last semester but now I'm more comfortable and have found ample time to toot my horn. I'm also busy in the faculty woodwind quintet this semester, which is excellent. Yeah..soooooo.....

Oh...Dave gave me Power Yoga with Rodney Yee for my birthday. Up until now we've been doing AM/PM with Rodney, which is great but for beginners. But power yoga..oh my gosh! I can't believe it. It kicks my behind everyday!! I love it! I sweat more doing yoga than playing tennis or jogging!! Sweeet.

I can't think of what else to write about. We're having issues finalizing a contract with the wedding resort. But only because they're revising it to include protection for us in case of a bird flu pandemic. Yuck. Who wants to cancel their wedding for a pandemic..not me. But if we have to cancel, we'll still get married and that's totally the point! It just won't be on the most beautiful beach in the world..haha...they're telling us Late November at the earliest for the contract. Jeeeeez.

I hope this entry wasn't all complainy. I'm really happy and Dave is loving his semster as well. I'll try and write more. I feel out of touch with my blog...

Happy All-Saint's Day! I have to get this down before my ALMOST 25 year old memory forgets..Dave and I hosted a halloween party last night, with costumes. I think everyone did really good considering they don't really sell halloween costumes in Thailand. But before I go there I have to write about an equally exciting event that happened on Sunday. The Canadian Embassy hosted the Terry Fox run at a park in Bangkok. I saw it in a paper and thought it'd be fun to run a 5k race, Dave agreed and so we set off to raise money for Cancer. Only problem is that Dave and I haven't been out for a jog in a while. We've been riding our bikes and playing tennis, but no running. My goal was to run half and walk the other half and that was no problem, even in the Bangkok heat. The problem was the next day. haha..we were trying to get ready for the halloween party all day and our feet and legs KILLED. We got served by the Terry Fox run. But it was fun and I'd do it again.

So our halloween party was a blast. I spent most of the afternoon making YUMMY Magnolia's recipe cupcakes. OH MY GOSH! I found all the ingredients here, it cost me a pretty baht but it was worth it. They even sell Gold Medal flour. YAY. I can only make 6 cupcakes at a time in my little microwave/oven and I made 2 dozen cupcakes that take 23 minutes for each 6. You do the math on how long those suckers took. We made guacamole with Thai avacados (who knew) and had so much more food and drinks that people brought. Oh, I forgot about our costumes. I'll have pics on my website in a few but I was a photo album and Dave was the King of Hearts. hahha..good times.

The craziest part of the night was after everyone left. We started to see an ant trail forming.. we've had huge ant problems lately. If we leave a crumb of anything we'll have a trail within an hour but we cleaned right after the party so we wouldn't have any problems. So Dave took our new ant spray and went to town in our bathroom. That nasty smelling stuff took over our bedroom within minutes and it was way too strong to sleep in there. So we settled on our couches in the living room for the night. But without A/C, ughh..it must have been in the 90's (we're on the 12th floor). I sort of gave up trying to sleep after a while but thought maybe I could catch some zzzz's in Cheddar's room, which has a bed and A/C. I still can't decide what was better, no A/C or Cheddar attacking me for 30 minutes. I was curled under the blankets and he just wouldn't give it up. I locked him in his bathroom, thinking that would help but then my cat allergies kicked in. haha. I still thought the sneezing and itchy eyes was going to be better than no A/C but alas, I gave up and moved back out to the couch. I finally slept for a few hours around 5am. What a night. I was so pissed at Dave but it's pretty funny now!

Second semester starts next week, which I'm really looking forward too. Sweet.
