June 12, 2006

It's Monday, and it's a holiday! YAY! In fact, last Friday was also a holiday and even tomorrow is a holiday too. Pretty amazing to have a 5 day weekend the first week of school. Today is the King's 60th anniversary as King so there's some serious celebrations happening here. The King is a very highly regarded figure here. I have a hard time comprehending it all. Anyway, so the time off has been helpful since there are little last minute things to do before people arrive. Ah..I can't believe people are coming in THIS week. The first troups get in on Thursday night! WHOA. I really can't believe it's all happening. YAY! All the planning is done and there's nothing really left to do...just trying to stay chill about it all.

I don't have much else to write about this week. I've consumed my life with wedding planning the past week...yeah, only a week and it's already enough for me. We're working on new websites to put up online affter the wedding. Sweet.

First week of school was nuts. I held 2 meetings with my horn students to find times for horn choir and studio class. I think I was also one of the few teachers teaching private lessons so I was busy. But all is good.

I've been pondering this major question for a while now...maybe you all can help. How would you spell the abbreviation for the word hilarious? Would you spell it hilar or hilare?? I have always used the latter but I looked online at slang dictionaries worldwide and hilar seems to be the trend. Hilar is more appropraite since it is an abbreviation but hilare is more phonetic to me.

The next time I write I'll be married. AHHH. :-)

June 4, 2006

Happy June, Happy June! It's Sunday and I'm really excited for school to start tomorrow. Should be an excellent year. Last week was busy getting organized for school but things are chill this weekend, which is really nice. Gosh, I don't know what else to write about today.

Last week we went and saw X-men 3 at the largest movie theatre in Thailand. It was weird. It was like being in Eastman Theatre but to see a movie. A little much for me. And they always play movies SO loud here. What's up with that? Dave and I have a ritual of bringing kleenex and stuffing it in our ears...ear plugs would be more efficient but I haven't seen those around.

We rediscovered a Chinese restaurant in Salaya. We had banned it for several months b/c of the frusterating service. We had asked for water at the beginning of the meal and NEVER got it. We were even asking in Thai and they still would NOT bring us water. It worked out though..they did bring us wine. haha. Anyway, we were so annoyed that we banned it. But then we went there last week and the service was excellent and we even had water! We've been back twice now. We usually get some spicy clear soup, fried rice..oh and the lettuce wraps are awesome. It's a lot different than chinese food back home. No crabmeat rangoons...dang. It's really fun to have one more place to go to when you need a meal. Living here is so different like that. We never used to eat out as much as we do here. But since our grocery store is a 30 minute cab ride each way, it's just the way we do it!

Anyway, you can see I'm scraping for things to write about. I added pics to my website from Australia so check those out if you get a chance. Hope you had a great weekend!
