It's been a crazy week and it's not over yet but I'm lovin every second of it. Right now, I'm busy with 2 huge projects. One is SAYOWE..the music festival that my school hosts every year...I'm a faculty artist for that. The other is the american tour of West Side Story. Yeah. So every morning I've been teaching 3 hour classes, sectionals etc. and then after lunch heading over to 4-6 hour rehearsals playing principal on West Side. I'm pretty sure I've never rehearsed anything so much in my life..but we need it. And I'm pretty sure I've never worked so hard in my life. But like I said, amazing! It's totally nuts how I'm in Thailand getting experience that I'd NEVER be able to get in the states. It's really amazing..but I'm getting my butt kicked big time. That's a good thing too. Getting my butt kicked kind of makes me feel that I've somehow lowered my standards...but I don't think that's entirely true. Maybe it's just that I haven't played anything at this level since I lived in NY. Anyway, the show starts on Tuesday and continues through Sunday...8 shows total. Pretty sweet. Then we come home on Monday! YAY!
So Dave has also been working at SAYOWE. He got pink eye at the beginning of the festival so that sucks big time. He went to the hospital here and they didn't know the term "pink eye," so the doctor was describing it as this horrible eye infection that could last 10 days and spread into your cornea..gross. Anyway, we talked to a doctor back home who said..oh that's pink eye. He's been super careful and I'm keeping my distance big time. He's doing better now..not sure where he is right now actually..hmm.
That about sums up things here. Like I said...totally crazy this week and next. I'm really looking forward to that 14 hour flight where I can pop some tylenol pm and enjoy crappy moves. Oh yeah.
